2009 Class 8 Graduation Celebration....

Hi, wanted to share pictures just in from the Gaililee Primary School Class 8Graduation Celebration. This is a very important day in the lives of these students and their families. It is a huge accomplishment for them to have made it through 8 years of school, for families to have paid half a months salary for school fees or to have been blessed to have a sponsor who paid the $12.50 a month for their child to attend school. Just having an 8th grade education will open up job opportunities for all of the children and it is known that if a girl has even an 8th grade education it dramatically reduces her chance of being abused or forced into the sex trade. When we first got involved at Galilee the school ended with Class Seven. High school was a distant dream! Now look at us~

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU - to everyone who made this possible and set the stage for classes to come.

Oprah Book Club.......

Oprah's current book club selection will be of special interest to those of you concerned about the plight of Kenya's orphans and vulnerable children. "Say You're One of Them" by Uwem Akpan, from Nigeria is a series of short stories written about daily life in Africa from a child's perspective. The stories give us insight into the lives some of our children at Holly House, Galilee Primary School and Waddington High School come from or may be destined for without an education.

The book is emotionally riveting. None will go away from it untouched and more will will finish it with a strong desire to act. With your help we can continue to make a difference by providing support to the children at Holly House, Galilee Primary and Waddington Secondary Schools. You CAN make an impact. You CAN change a live and a community. Make a one time donation or sponsor a child for as little as $12.50 a month. To it today! For more information about supporting the children go to www.galileeschool.org or email us at sponsorships@galileeschool.org
